About Sean Paul
Born Sean Paul Francis Henriques on January 9, 1973, in Kingston, Jamaica, to parents of Portuguese, Chinese, and Jamaican heritage,
Sean Paul grew up in St. Andrew, Jamaica, where his mother was a renowned painter and he excelled in swimming and water polo, representing the Jamaican national team. His introduction to the international stage came with the 1997 dancehall boom tune
Infiltrate, and his career took off globally with his 2002 second studio album
Dutty Rock, which spawned the Billboard Hot 100 chart-toppers
Gimmie the Light and
Get Busy and earned him the Grammy Award for Best Reggae Album in 2004. His 2005 follow-up
The Trinity produced the global hit
Temperature, which reached number one in multiple countries and became one of the best-selling singles of the 2000s. Over the following two decades he collaborated with Beyoncé on
Baby Boy, Rihanna on
Break It Off, Keyshia Cole on
Give It Up to Me, Kelly Rowland on
How Deep Is Your Love, and Sia on
Cheap Thrills and
Dynamite, racking up billions of streams along the way. His 2018 EP
Mad Love: The Prequel produced
No Lie with Dua Lipa, certified Diamond in Brazil and triple Platinum in the UK, and
Mad Love with David Guetta and Becky G. His eighth studio album
Scorcha (2022) celebrated 20 years of
Dutty Rock while introducing new collaborators including Gwen Stefani, Damian Marley, and Stylo G. In 2024 he earned his first ever RIAA Diamond certification, a milestone recognition of his extraordinary catalog, and his 2024 dancehall hit
Bring It on Dave Kelly's classic Showtime riddim reminded fans exactly why he remains the king of the genre. His 2025 singles
Ginger and
Nah Follow Dem and his inspiring December 2025 single
Faith We A Keep continued his prolific streak, while a co-headlining Bring It Tour with Ashanti lit up stages across the UK and Ireland. Honored by the Jamaican Government with an Order of Distinction, Sean Paul is more than a music icon. He is a living embodiment of Brand Jamaica to the world.
